trilogy house part one

We recently wrapped part one of an amazing feat – completely renovating and decorating our first income property (can you believe we have tenants?). I still can’t believe that we sat down and signed papers for this house just five months ago. To say that it was an incredible whirlwind of an adventure and learning process (full of blood, sweat and tears - or in Ryan's case - beers) would be an understatement. The interior completion culminated a little over a month ago with lots of champagne and a beautiful thank you celebration for our friends and family who lent their amazing help and support along the way.

Now that the snow has melted, we are beginning the planning phase of our spring / summer exterior renovations (because we clearly don’t know how to sit still and relax).

The (ever-growing) list (currently) includes having the house repainted, new window trim, mason work (retaining wall, patio, walkway), driveway improvements, fence, new garage doors, landscaping, gardening, and more.

If you know anything about my personal color palette – from interior decorating to dressing – I’m a black, white and occasional animal print type-of-gal. So, it should be no surprise if you’ve seen our BARN RED HOUSE that the color has to go.

The interior of our house was pretty easy - we used Benjamin Moore super white throughout the ENTIRE unit with super white high gloss for the trims and doors.

My pinterest inspirations of exterior spaces typically lean towards black and white (surprise). I did try to ask Ryan, but “bohemian black” was immediately thrown off the table (mark my words, one day I will own a black house). Currently debating a ton of dark gray (some with a tinge of blue) colors that will be paired with white trim. Only a few weeks left to decide….
