It’s certainly always nice to receive a gift, but one of my favorite things in life is picking out the perfect present for someone else. I mean, if I was a millionaire my life would probably be a lot like Oprah’s famous giveaway shows (“and you get a car, and you get a car, and you get a car!”).
Never quite sure when to get what? A power bitch should be well-versed on how to give the perfect gift.
In my world, basically any occasion qualifies for gift giving – and while I share a few of my go-to's for standard occasions to keep in mind below – I feel that the best gifts of all are those given for no reason.
A package arrived in the mail for moi? I wasn’t expecting anything!? Open to find a Henri Bendel candle and an accompanying note from my BFF, Steven: "my favorite candle for one of my favorites. thanks for being so amazing. i love you.” for NO reason. Mind blown. Day made. And not hard to see why he is my forever bestie.
A necklace I’ve been fawning over for months that my guy surprised me with. Not on a holiday, birthday or anniversary, but for absolutely NO reason (this has become the only way I really like receiving gifts from him).
I digress. While I always condone gift giving sans reason or occasion, there are plenty of happy life occurrences and events that also require a great gift.
I have a few fabulous go-to's for reoccurring power bitch life occasions:
Your friend posts an instagram picture of her new wedding ring! MAJOR life moment. Of course, the engagement party and bridal shower will happen soon enough, but a gift shouldn’t have to wait! Send a card or a box of Sugarfina's congratulations candies. (www.sugarfina.com)
Your co-worker bestie buys their first home. How exciting! After all, you felt part of the day in and day out house hunting process! Place a gift wrapped LAFCO candle on their desk after their closing date. (www.lafco.com)
Promotion / new job
A linkedin ‘like’ isn’t enough for a friend moving up the corporate ladder! If celebratory drinks are out of the question (damn you, full calendars!), send a sweet card or a mini bouquet. (www.odelarose.com)
Life is totally about celebrating “just because” moments – just because you can. Nothing so sweetly (and deliciously) says I’ve been thinking of you like an assortment of Fatty Sunday’s gorg pretzels showing up at the door. (www.fattysundays.com)
