They say it is the little things. Little gestures, little moments, little touches that make a great life.
Over a year ago, while doing my weekly grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s, I threw some fresh flowers into my cart.... treating myself to tulips. When I arrived home, I unpacked the groceries (as usual) and then got to work assembling the two bundles of flowers in one of my nana’s antique glass containers. Voila – an arrangement for my kitchen table.
Prep time? About 10 minutes. Payoff? A full week of smiles and fresh energy.
I smiled as I packed my breakfast, as I set the table for dinner and as I sat working at that same kitchen table a few nights that week. I felt the change, for sure. Something as little as fresh flowers had completed my home… and lifted my mood.
Each week since, flowers have appeared on my grocery list – right up there in importance with lettuce, lemons and bananas. This is not a super crazy expense like ordering a bouquet. I add $12-15 to my weekly grocery bill as each bundle of flowers at Trader Joe's is around $5.99. For anyone who has ever justified their $5 latte - I'm sure you will get where I am heading with this.
It’s a little change – but in life – it is about the little things. Give yourself the chance to smell the roses or hyacinths or peonies or tulips every day of the week.
Sending flower power, hugs & kisses,
Lindsey
