Traveling to a new place and planning the trip on your own can be pretty daunting (my type A personality does NOT trust or usually agree with travel agent recommendations). But hours and hours of researching and planning and perusing, pays off in the end – with a fabulous trip, of course!
Power bitch travel tools:
- I tend to find inspiration for travel on Pinterest (see my ‘going power bitch places’ board here), but I also hang cutouts of my travel wish lists on my “real life pinterest board” (a 4x8 ft. corkboard).
- I definitely consult lonely planet for stuff like weather, attractions, highlights, and basic necessary information.
- I also turn to Travel + Leisure and Jetsetter for hotels that will suit my travel preferences (no hostels for this girl).
Now, I can read the reviews, ratings, rants and raves of my future destination online (and pretty much still do that for most trips), but at the end of the day it’s far nicer to have the opinion and feedback of someone you know and trust.
That was previously the deciding factor in my comfort level with booking our adventure to South Africa. My well-traveled friend, Jillian (whose opinion I definitely trust), had previously been to Cape Town and said that it was amazing. And I just two days ago contacted a friend for advice and tips for planning our upcoming Spring trip to Thailand.
Like I previously shared, Ryan and I plan on traveling to 2+ new places every year (and this is outside of our frequent weekend getaways), so I have decided to start to document and share my travel “TOPS” (highlights & tips).
After all, Power Bitch is my name and going places is my game.
Coming up (in order of our 2013 travel – not necessarily upcoming post):
- South Africa
Looking forward to sharing my journeys with YOU,
